Get the Jump on Algae - and More

Planning to open your swimming pool early this summer?💡Great idea! We highlighted this tip in our Opening Tips post, but it deserves more attention.

🦠 Opening in April or early May helps prevent algae buildup under the cover, meaning shorter wait times before diving in. You won't have to vacuum and brush and shock and scrub and add algaecide and clarifier for a week before you can finally see the bottom. Less work sounds good to us!

🗓️ By opening early, you get the benefit of beating the Long-Weekend-Rush, and won't have to fight with the majority of other customers for a spot in the schedule. It also gives you plenty of time to tackle unwanted surprises (seized pump, anyone?) before that first pool party of the year, and if the weather suddenly turns ☀️miraculous☀️ ahead of season you'll be ready to jump right in!

💸 Worried about your energy bill if no one is swimming? Cooler weather and fewer bathers means less filtration demand, so you can run your pump less frequently or on a lower rpm until the season really kicks off. Chlorine demand is also lower in cool weather, so you'll easily keep the water clear on a lower salt system output or fewer pucks than you'd need peak season.

If you're still not convinced to open early, I don't know what else to tell you except that your pool company would really love it 😂 It's nice not to be running around like maniacs for the entire month of May. Think about it! And let us know if we've changed your mind:
